Big Tom or Ozzy and other Memories

Nothing is really forgotten; just filed. The happy reality about revisiting memories is that if you can’t remember exactly what happened then what you do remember becomes what happened. But always remember that they are just your version of what occurred. Someone else experiencing the same event will remember it differently.

They arrive unbidden, no slave to time or place. Memories of childhood can be triggered by happenings today. Memories of places are easily refreshed by repeat visits. Interactions with people, however, are one off treasures not to be repeated. Each memory is a piece of the whole jigsaw that is your life until now, unique, important, never to be repeated.

So I believe that we should not hoard our memories like a miser with his hidden chest of coins. They should be brought into the light and shared.

The only difficulty in writing this book was knowing when to stop and deciding what to include. In this book you will find disparate accounts of memories from childhood to now. The themes vary greatly in terms of gravity but all have had an impact on their author. Written down the hope is that they will survive the great enemy of memory: time.
